with summer vacations being 11 weeks long here (take as long as you need my British & African family to let that sink in!) - summer camps are a big thing here in the US. I remember sending Morayo-Hope to a couple of day camps in the UK and wondering why I was wasting my hard earned money on these so called camps. No such thing here, they run like well oiled machines. this first camp was actually a free church camp called vacation bible camp. well praise the Lord they had me at free! I booked a massage for the 1st day of that camp so I could be suitably relaxed for the rest of that week! Morayo-Hope decided she didn't want to go to this camp on the night before it began. "I won't know anyone! I'll be scared!". A few tears were shed on the way there which only served to raise my stress levels thus increasing my determination to get a massage.

I took her in and promised I'd be back straight after my massage to pick her up. the massage didn't go that great - the ladies breath stank of garlic and one of her nails kept scratching me. I should've said something....but I took my punishment. I was straight back at the church only to be shooed away by a different looking morayo-hope who was ecstatic be at camp. I guess the lord turned her mourning into dancing! I sat in the hot car for a good hour and a half trying to figure out what life lesson I was meant to be learning on this cursed day.

thankfully the rest of camp was a little less eventful and on the last day morayo-hope announced she was proud to see me because one of the kids had said "wow! that's your mum?! she's so pretty!". well then, I guess you do need rain before a rainbow....and that was my little life lesson.
