Spring Beckons...

you know you’ve been indoors watching too much “The Office” when your kids run in from the playroom to dance to the theme song each time a new episode begins. it’s definitely too much when you’re bobbing around too. so it was no doubt refreshing for the kids to be freed from the sight of their mother howling every time Steve Carrell’s Michael said “that’s what she said”, and allowed into the fresh air.

on Tuesday we had a date with the ever adventurous Alicia and Madeline who took us to Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) museum. It was our first time there and we weren’t disappointed. It’s a cute museum with a well curated collection of art from famous painters like Van Gogh, to renowned RISD alumni such as glass blower Dale Chihuly  , spanning the globe from Egypt to China and featuring works spanning the ages from 2000bc to the works of current students of RISD which were being installed as we walked through.

as is always the case with little people, food started being requested almost as soon as we got in. Judah especially was determined to show us up by demanding the crackers he knew were in the basket. we managed to bribe him with youtube kids - a different kind of culture but culture nonetheless! don’t judge!

indeed they belong here being cultured!  to be fair, some of the museum security might need to be shown this sign as they sure did make those of us with kids feel a little on edge. Judah was of course firmly strapped in his buggy - if i need an exhilarating day for my heart i’ll go to a theme park.

Alicia brought along the children's guide to art, a fantastic illustrated book with facts about different artists.

we headed straight to friskie fries from the museum. little people who had seemingly been at death's door from “hunger”, skipped and sang all the way to this fun eatery. the fries were sooooo good! the menu was droolsome and the Fries were truly delicious. so delicious in fact that there was no time to take pictures.

from there we headed to a pretty freshly built park opposite the ice skating rink in providence. With weather this good it seemed criminal not to allow the kids to run around for a bit.

naturally we had to stop for a picture in front of this quirky building! it reminded me of the Tudor architecture in the UK but just bright and fun!

the architecture in providence reminds me so much of England. Lots of cobbled streets too! Pretty to look at but getting the buggy up them was a nightmare!
