40th in NYC - Bosie Tea Parlour & Karaoke Shout!
Once I’d realized it was going to be more than just myself & my little family on this NYC trip, I started my search for things to do on the day. Usually people have a dinner to mark the day but an afternoon tea really appealed to my British sensibilities! I did a quick search for “best afternoon tea in NY” and a Town & Country magazine article came up. I didn’t even look any further - if anyone would know, it was them! And once I read their write up about Bosie Tea Parlour I was sold. I quickly reserved the table and told the girls they’d have to wear black cocktail dresses because we were going all out! The tea service is typically scheduled for 2 hours, but the Africans in us rose to the occasion and we ended up being 45 minutes late! Sigh! We still had an amazing time. The cakes, pastries and macarons were just delicious - I cannot recommend this place highly enough! The service was impeccable. There was a fantastic selection of teas as well - I fell in love with the Almond Cookie Rooibos tea! It really was like a cookie in a cup & I realized after we’d left that we could’ve bought some to take home!! Sigh!
Karaoke Shout was another fantastic find for me!! We needed something fun to do between the tea and heading out for the night & this activity ticked all the boxes. We had our own room (they have many - i’ll do a proper review later), and so we were free to sing as off key as we liked without worrying about bursting a stranger’s ear drums and being sued! I picked a room with a faux live wall! I loved the wood panelling contrasting with the green foliage. They have a digital music book which is linked to an app with 1000s of songs so we had no trouble finding songs to suit everyone’s tastes. We had the best time singing and boogying away! We were all slightly hoarse by the time we left. This was the place where I got to blow out my candles and listen to messages sent in from some friends and family. I was very touched!
There’s a video coming with little excerpts of us all singing to our hearts content!! We were pretty hoarse by the time our 3 hours was up! Lol! And if you follow us on Instagram you’ll be able to see a lot of other videos in our stories.
It was decided that we’d take the subway back into NY. Some of us girls weren’t ecstatic but in the end it was the BEST thing to have happened! We took over that last coach on the train and generally got up to all sorts of singing and dancing! So much fun!
